White Down Silver Needle is a premium quality tea grown in China's Fujian province. It's health benefits make it one of the most expensive white tea variants. The buds of the lightly oxidized tea are

plucked during Spring. The tea is also popularly known as Baihao Yinzhen in several regions of China.

Taste and appearance

The tea is called White Down Silver Needle because it has small, delicate white hair-like strands on its buds. They make the tea leaves appear as if white hair is sticking to the buds. The brewed tea acquires a light yellow color. The tea releases subtle fruits scents, especially smelling of melons and cucumbers. The tea has honey-like sweetness and the hints of cucumbers make it a refreshing drink. White Down Silver Needle tea is has a velvety finish, despite its full texture.

Health benefits

While all varieties of tea are considered to be healthier than coffee, white tea is believed to have the highest level of antioxidants. Also, white tea is one of the least processed teas. Being a premium tea variant, White Down Silver Needle offers several health benefits like reducing the risk of cancer and protecting against heart diseases. The tea is also said to protect from rheumatoid arthritis, while keeping the cholesterol level in check. The catechins in White Down Silver Needle tea also slow down the aging process while flushing out toxins from the body.

Add about three grams of White Down Silver Needle tea leaves in 150 ml of water between the temperature of 70 and 80 degrees Celsius. The tea should be steeped between 2-3 minutes, and not more than 5 minutes. It is recommended that you use a Gaiman to brew the tea, to release all its flavors to the fullest.
