Yixing teapots are meant for use with black and oolong teas, as well as aged pu-erh tea. They can also be used for green or white tea, but the water must be allowed to cool to around 85 degrees Celsius before pouring the water into the Yixing pot. How to judge quality of Yixing teapots.
1. Tap the pots lightly together, the ceramic should make a distinctly clear metallic sound. 2. Put the lid into the pot, it should be fit seamlessly. 3. Fill the pot with water and put on the lid. When begin pouring the water of a good teapot should pour smoothly. 4. When pouring, place your finger over the hole on the lid and the flow of water should immediately stop if the lid is well fitted. 5. Choose a teapot with no foreign odor
