Lavender Scones.
2 cups flour 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1 tablespoon baking powder 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into pieces) 1 egg 1/2 cup milk 1/2 teaspoon culinary crushed lavender Grandulated sugar
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Combine the flour, powdered sugar and baking powder in mixing bowl. Crush lavender buds with back of a knife or with a mortar and pestle. Add butter and lavender to flour mixture and mix until it is crumblyBreak egg into measuring cup . Add milk whisk together into the flour mixture. Beat until dough comes together, or binds.
I do not roll the dough, Just manage it with my hands into a round shape, or if you have a scone pan into triangels. You do not want to handle the dough too long. It is not flaky if you do, Cut the round into triangels and sprinkel with the grandulated sugar. Bake until golden brown 15-20 minutes Serve with jam and Devon Cream.
